Andy H. Smith

Nutritional Consultant

Winters, Texas

In September of 1989, Andy went into the old Alderman-Cave (now AC Nutrition) offices to pay a feed bill and was offered a sales job.  He was 26 at the time and the offer was more than he could stand.  That was 20 years ago and things have changed drastically since then.  Progress can be a wonderful thing in certain situations and this is one of them. Andy has spent his life around the livestock industry in one form or another.  In his younger years he dayworked, broke colts, and rode sick pen in the feedyard.  His Dad, a butcher by trade, taught Andy how to take a butcher calf from pen to plate when he was 13 years old.  He can still do it, but he always thought there were better ways to earn a living.  That's one of the reasons he is here today. He does not get horseback much these days. He has picked up a bad habit of catching wild hogs with his dogs. Another hobby Andy has discovered in the last several years is predator calling competitions.  A three-man team and 24 hour hunt makes for a long weekend but loads of fun. Andy was lucky enough to marry the love of his life and his best friend, Michelle. They have 10 year old twin girls at home. Yep, twins. They are true country kids and help to keep Andy young.  They also have four grown daughters ranging in age from 18 to 26.  The oldest has even made Andy and Michelle grandparents.  As you can see, Andy is a minority in their home.  Andy always thought that God never let him have a son for fear that he would get him killed trying to do the same things he did growing up. Some of the things that Andy believes in are God, Family and Country. He also believes that when you give a man your word, you had better damn well keep it. It's all you've got at the end of the day !  Andy stated that life is better than he deserves, but he will run with it as long as is possible. He feels very blessed to be making a living doing something he loves.
